Nothing is Self-Evident

Things I find interesting. Film. Media, pop culture. The occasional funny. I can be reached via ethridge (at) gmail.com.

Two days away!  “Survivor Type” premieres at the Buried Alive! Film Festival here in Atlanta on Saturday at The Plaza Theater on Ponce de Leon.  4:00pm - 6:00pm, and the tickets are $7 to see all four short films during that block.

I’ll be a table in the lobby after the screening, handing out free Survivor Type posters.  Come by, say hi and grab a poster!  It’s a great poster, drawn by Mike Kazantzis, the artist responsible for all the Max Payne 3 and Grand Theft Auto V art work splattered all over the web right now.

Also, there is a big closing ceremony party at the Highland Inn Ballroom at 11:00pm.  A ticket stub from the screening gets you in.  I will be there until they drag my poor, drunken carcass from the room.

You and you and you and you should come!  You stay home.  Okay, fine, you can come too.

First (somewhat informal) Review of Survivor Type

This mini review is from a festival programmer that is showing the film in Argentina, of all places.  It about made me cry.

“Man…what a great work and adaptation!! You took probable the most difficult S. King story to adapt and made a professional movie that will boost the brains of all the public! Excellent performance, locations, camera management….and the effects… MY GOD. I’m one of those persons that can see all the gore present in a film, but can’t stand a <SPOILER>, and I grabbed MY own <SPOILER>. The last image of the movie was simply PERFECT and we decided THIS movie has to be the one everyone has in their minds when they left the theater, so it’ll be the one which closes the festival :) We’ve been trying to decide for a while which movie would be (it has to be one special) and now there are no more doubts: it’ll be Survivor Type.”

And that, folks, is the single best thing I have ever read in my entire life.

Survivor Type - Behind the Scenes
Point of Interest:  The two lovely ladies in the lower right corner are Atlanta tumblrs Brooke and Sarah, who helped me out by showing up to be extras.  They are, as the internet circa 2006 would say, teh awesome.
This scene was shot at The Shelter, who were nothing but welcoming of our production.
